2010 SVCAHS Student Scholarship

David Ren, the first recipient of the SVCAHS scholarship, was diagnosed as a high-functioning autistic child when he was four and a half years old. His fine motor skills were so weak that he had a hard time holding a pencil, even with a special grip. David began learning the harp at age eight, and thus began his journey of overcoming his disability. Through his musical training, David has advanced his cognition and coordination. David performed beautifully at the September 2010 Chapter Kick-off Event. His continued transformation serves as a reminder that hard work helps overcome any obstacle.
